Operation Christmas Child Report (via the OCC Central Illinois Facebook page)

Praising the Lord that our shoebox packers brought 27,362 shoeboxes to our drop-off locations this year! That is a 15% increase...... immeasurably more than the 10% goal we asked of the Lord. So many children are to be blessed with a little box from Central Illinois that will show them the Love of Christ and also open the door of their hearts to embrace the love and salvation that only Jesus can give. One more AMAZING statistic to share: in 2015, about 3 million shoebox recipients also graduated from The Greatest Journey (12 week discipleship program). Each of those Decisions beginning with a little shoebox gift.

Our shoeboxes matter... these children matter.... Thank you all for a wonderful OCC year in Central Illinois. Special thank you to Kay & Bob Price for coordinating this project here at LWC.

On Saturday, October 31st 80 Quilts, 30 Personal Care Kits, 48 School Kits, and 45 Baby Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief to Bloomington. The kits will be shipped to the Minneapolis, MN warehouseand then all over the world. We have put tracking labels on some of them so will find out later where they went. Thank you to all those who donated items, shipping costs, time and talents!

The Thanksgiving Pie Auction raised $2100 plus a $400 Thrivent match for a total of $2500! That is the largest yet! We thank God that we are able to give in this way. All proceeds will be donated to local food pantries.

This summer Living Waters hosted two service groups who came to the Peoria area to help with Washington tornado relief. One was from St. Olaf college in Northfield, MN, the other was from Scandinavia Lutheran Church (LCMC) in Scandinavia, Wisconsin. It was wonderful to see our congregation receive these groups so warmly and go above and beyond to anticipate their needs related to food, rest and recreation!

Currently Living Waters is mobilizing to engage local neighborhoods with outreach initiatives. We have been going door to door to invite families to events, to evangelize, and to share God's love in practical ways such as assisting in small home improvements.
